Established in 1953 by a group of concerned parents, Community Resources Staten Island (CRSI) has grown into one of the area’s most experienced, comprehensive voluntary service providers. Embracing the philosophy that “what matters most is what you do with what you have,” our mission is to provide people of all ages and levels of ability, who have an IDD (intellectual/developmental disability) and/or mental health diagnosis, the opportunities and experiences needed to achieve the highest level of independence, reach their potential, and lead rewarding, productive lives as fully participating and contributing members of the community.
CRSI’s wide range of services, which are designed to provide a lifetime continuum of care, includes: Residential Services with fifteen community residences and six supportive apartments, Day Habilitation in newly renovated, expanded space at the Agency’s main campus (3450 Victory Blvd. 10314), Supplemental Day Habilitation, weekday and weekend Recreation and Respite, General, Special Education, Universal Pre-K, Pre-K3, and day care at the Community Resources Preschool/Joan P. Hodum Early Learning Center (3651 Richmond Road 10306), Supported Employment, Pathway to Employment, Community Habilitation, Family Supports/Services, and Vocational Training/Employment through our Special Tees division (250 Buel Avenue 10305).
One of the largest employers on Staten Island, with 400 full and part-time staff members, we are open year round and maintain 24 sites located throughout the borough, directly serving 750 people annually, and helping hundreds more through our advocacy, referral and counseling services.
